Hope you had a nice Easter holiday. Ours was spent in the comfort of home; mainly lounging on the sofa, catching up on some movies and reading. Basically a slow few days when we could just rest. However there were also some pretty long walks because not only does our dog always keep us on our toes but the incredible rays of sun persistently invited us outside.

Anyway our holiday couldn’t be complete without Sunday breakfast to celebrate the Resurrection. Maybe the table didn’t sag under the weight of food; as there were just two of us, but we still managed to pull off some traditional dishes. I stuck to my Polish roots, so; stuffed eggs, boiled sausages, vegetable salad and traditional cake called Mazurek.. A few choices of cheese and roasted meat was “brought to the table” by my husband who is British and somehow this completed our cravings .

Of course there were chocolates eggs as well. Maybe they weren’t giant sizes ( good for me) like you find in the Uk, but certainly they tasted good.

We even had “śmigus-dyngus”. This is a really old polish tradition which is always celebrated on the Easter Monday. Basically you sprinkle friends and family- sometimes total strangers- with water. This tradition refers to ancient Pagan rituals symbolising the awakening of nature and Springtime’s cleansing from dirt and illness.

If you wondered, I basically poured a whole bucket of water on my husband. Did he enjoy it? Probably not. Did I? Oh, yes! Satisfaction every second…:) However my husband in response to this told me that in UK usually they have this on Tuesday early morning around 6am (when he gets up for work). Of course that’s not true ; he just simply wanted revenge…so I thought: bring it on baby…I was raised with 3 brothers so Wet Monday or this fake Wet Tuesday doesn’t scare me at all…and I put on my impudent face:) and guess what he simply forgot….sandrafyianderson-2sandrafyianderson-3sandrafyianderson-4sandrafyianderson-6
